elective induction???

Question

So I’m almost 37 weeks and had my appointment today, my doc said I could have an elective induction at 39 weeks. He said woman at that hospital 3/4 chose to do an elective induction and 1/4 women chose to go into labor on their own. 
Any of you chose to do an elective induction? Pros and cons?

This is a quote from the Mayo Clinic “American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the American Academy of Family Physicians all recommend against elective induction of labor, especially before 39 weeks gestation.” 
The chances of having an emergency c section double with an induction and can lower babies heart rate and increase moms blood pressure which can leads to more interventions and complications. Many women who do an induction for medical reasons do so because it is the safest choice for their circumstances. But if you are a low risk pregnancy it may be better to let your body and baby do things naturally. But to each their own, gather a bunch of questions, research, and ask your dr so you can make an informed decision.

I’ve had it done with 3 because of being high risk but my 4th cane before his induction date .. and I can honestly say that the spontaneous labor was way less painful for me. I went thru most of my labor at home and it didn’t seem as intense as being induced. Wish you the best!!

I’m not a doctor but from what I’ve read the drug they give you to induce has a higher chance of your birth ending in a c section. That seems to be the biggest downside. Your body knows when to start labor (in most cases)

My doctor gave me the same choice and I was all set and ready to be induced this Sunday. 
But I never ended up needing to since my princess decided to come on Thursday.
I wish I could give you comparisons but both of my babies were spontaneous labours

Watch this video before making a decision. This video has REAL medical facts from an actual study that was ran. From the information given in the video, I would personally be fine with an elective induction at 39 weeks. Do whatever you feel is right for you and your baby and don’t let anyone make you feel bad about the choice you make!
