Pumping how often?

My baby is 5 days old and I needed to pump due to not producing a lot. How often do you pump? I pumped this morning at 8 and got 1oz.

Pump every 2-3hrs (8-12pumps a day). It will signal to ur body to produce more milk for u baby. Always do a middle of the night pump. That’s wat I did straight from the hospital and I use to make 60+oz a day. I am currently 9months into my pumping journey.

Do you have a lactation consultant you can contact? Those first few weeks are so tough when it comes down to establishing a nice pumping schedule! You probably feel extremely engorged right now, as did I for the first couple of weeks of nursing and I made an attempt to pump after every feeding to finish emptying myself out. My LC had said to try to avoid pumping for x amount of time while establishing my supply at the beginning so I didn’t give myself the issue of overproducing, but also I’m not a work-outside-the-home mom. It’s always a good idea to talk to an LC too! I know it’s different for everyone.

I pumped every 3hrs. Even if no milk came out, just to stimulate.

I would say start about every 3 hrs or so until your supply regulates in a few weeks and nurse on demand if your Breast feeding. That will help regulate what your body needs to make from what baby is taking out. It's all about supply and demand. Also don't stress about not having enough! Babies tummy is like the size of a marble the first week and I think at three weeks it's only the side of a egg. They can only take a few ounces at a time later on! You got this!
