Congested 6 month old

My 6 month old woke up screaming and when I went to get him, he was completely congested. He doesn’t seem to be able to breathe through his nose at all. I tried suctioning him and lots of mucous came out. However, he is still plugged up. He is coughing, sneezing and is irritable! Thankfully, no fever. Every time I put him in his crib he screams. What can I do to help him get some relief and sleep tonight? I’m going to call my doctor in the morning, but in the meantime, any advice?
