Redoing Bedroom for Birthday?

My daughter is turning 2 mid January. Since Christmas just passed she got a ton of new toys and I feel like buying a bunch more toys a few weeks later is a little unnecessary. For her first birthday we did lots of toys for both but this year I’m thinking of redoing her bedroom instead of buying her toys/gifts that can be wrapped.
But she’s so little I don’t know if she will understand that her new bedroom is a present. Even if I don’t do it for her birthday her bedroom badly needs to be redone. I haven’t redone it since I initially did it before she was born. I want her to have a “big girl room”. What do you think?

She doesn’t get the idea of gifts anyway, we didn’t even give a gift to our daughter for her first 3 birthdays we just did fun birthdays and her friends brought gifts. For her third we did a toonie/$2 party and bought a fancy princess piggy bank (cost about $20) everyone who came brought $2 and put it into the bank (most brought more and a couple brought gifts regardless) we had about 20 kids come. She got about $150 and we used the money to go to the aquarium and have a fun family day. It was great. She got two fun days and didn’t get a bunch of “stuff” shes 3 and still barely gets the idea of giving and receiving gifts and doesn’t have expectations to get gifts at her birthday that’s for sure.

I think at 2, redoing a room is a good idea. Tons of presents overwhelms kids. They don’t appreciate them or play with half. And at 2 she’s Probly not registering it’s her birthday yet, so I’d just go ahead and do the bedroom. Maybe throw in something small if you want to get her a gift.

I dont think redoing a room that needs to be done is a gift. That's something your child needs. So you could do it but also buy gifts like toys and things.

I think it's a great idea. Maybe get her some bedding or a picture of her favourite characters as a surprise and make a big deal about it when you open the door to show her.

Going to be doing my boys room up for his5th birthday. He'll be going into top bunk & hopefully his brother will be coming out of his cot into bottom bunk. Have brought marvel cushions, throws, bedding a canvas & wall stickers. Its going to be his big boy space. Hes going to get plenty of presents from other people.
