Opinions on Zofran??

I’m 12 weeks today & I’ve been having a lot of sickness lately so my doctor prescribed Zofran. I’ve read there could be possible birth defects so I’m just a little nervous about taking it

I’ve avoided it just because there is a risk even if it is small. Have you tried unisom and b6?

I went to the Er on Friday for being so sick and was vomiting my guts up when the doctor walked in and said you need some nausea meds ASAP. She asked how far along I was again and said she just doesn't feel comfortable giving me the Zolphran especially in the 1st trimester. Which I was fine with because I won't take that pregnant anyways. Seasoned moms like myself (majority not all) know not to take it. It was actually considered black marketed 2yrs ago. I don't disagree or agree when others take it cause it's there decision not mine.

I took zofran with my second. Hes fine! It helped a lot!

From what I've read the chances/risks go up as the pregnancy progresses so I only took it in my first trimester because I personally didn't feel comfortable taking at all but I needed it

I’m currently on zofran. I asked my midwife about that and she told me the evidence for birth defects is very minimal and very weak. If you are uncomfortable with it there are other medications you can take.

The hospital where I had my first baby would basically give out zofran like candy before it was labeled as not necessarily safe and they didn’t have any problems with birth defects there over many, many years.
I have some and I’ll take it occasionally if I really need to and the relief is amazing. I don’t take it often because it can cause constipation and I’m not a fan.
I have taken it once this pregnancy so far while I was on a bus to a banquet because I was going to vomit everywhere and I couldn’t handle it anymore.
