Okay moms, my boyfriend and I are torn on deciding what last name to give our child. My boyfriend has his step dads last name who was extremely abusive to him as a child. This man is no longer in his life and he didn’t not want to pass down his name. Originally we agreed to have our family take my last name. My mom has been nagging at my boyfriend saying that our family should take my step dads last name because they think of him as a son already. She won’t let it go and hasn’t said anything to me about it at all. I have so many memories with my last name. It means a lot to me if we keep it and I feel like if I took my step dads name it’ll be disrespectful to my dads side of the family. My boyfriend is over it and doesn’t want to make a decision about it. Just need some advice. I know if my mom says something to me about it will be a huge argument.
