Mateo is here💙
Christmas night after everyone left I started having some contractions. They were more intense than the Braxton Hicks but not too bad. I walked around and bounced on the medicine ball to see if they would ease a bit. Then I decided to get some sleep in case this was the real thing. I layed down and all of a sudden I felt like he punched me in my cervix and I HEARD what sounded like a big pop. Freaked me out and I got up and felt like I was peeing!! I said shit and went to the bathroom and changed my underwear, then i “peed” again! I said oh boy this is my water I know it. I woke my husband up and called the hospital they told me to come in. The contractions started to intensify SUPER quickly. This is my first baby and I was told with the first you normally go past your due date and your labor can take days. Well my due date was December 29th..
they checked my dilation and I was at 3 cm and was 75% effaced, the day before I was 1.5 cm and 25% effaced. I got into the shower and was on the medicine ball and I just kept feeling the contractions get more and more painful. By the way my contractions were all in my back. I had BACK LABOR!!!😭😭😭😭 But I remember between my contractions I was totally fine and and talking normally and forgot about the pain of the contractions.. I actually remember between all the contractions being worried about my mom and husband “did you get some sleep?” “Are you drinking water?” “How are you feeling?” Lol it was insane. But I kept getting mad at my husband because I was so damn hot and he had his jacket on the entire time! I kept telling him to take his jacket off or asking why he was wearing his jacket!! Weirdest thing to be mad about LOL! Anyways I’m still in the shower on the ball and my midwife wanted to check me again so she did and I was at 5 cm and 100% effaced now! I got so upset “ONLY 5?!?!” They told me I made really good progress in just 2 hours! So I went back into the shower and labored in there a bit longer until I started feeling shakey and dizzy so they said I need to get out of the hot water. I started to walk out and then squatted next to the hospital bed. AUTOMATICALLY my body started to just push on its own! The nurse said “wait are you pushing??” And called my midwife. I wasn’t ready to be pushing yet but my body had other plans. I stayed in squat position the entire time pushing and holding onto my husbands arm who was crouched in front of me. I was in transition at this point and I remember screaming “I WANT THE DRUGS!” Knowing damn well I didn’t want the drugs because I wanted an all natural labor and delivery since day one. Then I remember my mom grabbing my hand bringing it to my vagina and she said “feel! Your almost there!” And I felt the top of his head! I looked at my husband and said “there’s so much fucking hair!!” He said “you got this! Come on!” Then 2 more pushed and he was here they put him on me and I saw something wasn’t right. He was DARK purple and not crying. Everyone was patting him and talking and I was yelling “why isn’t he crying?!” I wanted to do delayed chord clamping until the pulsating stopped but they only had him on 30 seconds and then took him away to try to get him to respond. He had a pulse of 120 but wasn’t responding due to coming out so fast he was put in a shock (basically had the wind blown out of him) finally they got him responding and I got to hold onto my baby boy and have him on my chest. Ladies, let me tell you this was the most incredible experience of my life and the most amazing moment. The pain you forget all about it when you have your baby in your arms. There is nothing like it.. I was in labor for 7 hours and pushed for just 20 minutes. All natural, no medication just as I wanted/ planned.
