How much is needed to get an apartment?

I'm 22 and tired of living in my parents house so I'm looking for a job right now so I can save money and move out. I've been applying literally everyday. I have an interview Thursday and I hope I get the job. Where I live most apartments even for a one bedroom are like 900 a month and a two bedroom is about 1200.
 I highly doubt I will be able to afford an apartment alone so  my plan is finding a roommate and sharing the cost of rent. If I plan to pay 600 a month maximum for rent  how much money do you think I need to save overall before I can start looking? I'm really inexperienced with this type of thing, I've tried to move out before but it was unsuccessful so I'm trying to be independent and prove to my family I can do this.
For clarification I live in Oregon in the Portland metro area.

Sorry ahead of time. This is going to be a long post. 
It’s hard to know without knowing knowing your other monthly costs. Most places require 2.5-3x rent. But here’s a breakdown to the best of my ability by just guessing.
Cost of apartment:
Most apartments on top searches are very expensive and pay to be top results. 
Most apartments require a deposit as well as first months rent. This depends on your area but I have seen deposits between $300-1000, often dependent on credit and rental history. 
I would highly recommend finding a roommate. Do you have a friend or family member looking to rent out a second room in their house or apartment? I would also look on Craigslist for cheaper apartments. 
Bills:
I am not sure where you live, but if you are in a very hot state (Arizona) or cold (North Dakota) you will have to think about potential extreme electric bills. It is easy to go above $100 in electric bills depending on the season, location, and temperature tolerances. Most apartments include water, trash, and sewage. 
Cable or internet bill:
In my area, internet alone is about $55 not including cable TV. That also isn’t including the cost of either renting equipment ($10 per month) or buying the modem and router ($60-$200 depending on equipment).
Food:
I would allocate at least $300 a month for food. 
Other:
Travel costs (gas, car insurance, bus pass, etc)
Cell phone bill
Medical costs (if any)
Credit card or student loan payments (if any)
Household supplies (toilet paper, soap, feminine supplies, etc)
There are also one time costs:
Silverware
Plates
Pots and pans
Cost of moving (if you have large items and no friends with trucks or SUVs)
So if I were to guess for the costs assuming you paid $600 a month:
$600 - rent
$100 - electric
$80 - internet or cable (could be more depending what you choose)
$300 - food
$50 - household supplies
$60 - cell phone
$200 - car costs estimated (total guess here)
$200 - other misc expenses
= ~$1600 per month
Also assuming one time costs 
$600 - deposit
$200 - first time house supplies (cheap pots, pans, plates, toilet paper, paper towels, etc)
$200+ - electronics (modem, router, vacuum)
= $1000+
These are just guessing and costs I can think of off the top of my head but definitely math it out.

It depends on the place. My rent is $985 for a 2 bedroom, and I needed close to $2000 to move in. It also depends on your credit if they do a credit check. It’s smart to at least have enough to cover 1st month, last month, and a security deposit that can be the same as rent. You also need money for an application fee. Mine was $50 but they can vary.

First off establish a job and some savings.Then I would start looking into furniture costs,appliance's,kitchenware if needed and slowly licking up smaller items leading up to when you want to move out.Ask your friends if they know anyone looking for a roommate or even some online forums just be careful who you're dealing with. Once you have a roommate start looking at places together and see what you can agree upon,I personally suggest looking at all inclusive places they tend to be a bit pricier but you dont have to worry about hydro,gas and water payments.Then all you have to do after that is coordinate your moves. As for money saved up you'll need first and lasts months rent,money for groceries and money for moving trucks/movers etc. Moving out I had about $3000 CAD saved up and personally wished I had closer to $5000 CAD but I also moved out with nothing.

They say to have at least 8x your rent saved up before moving out. Also when budgeting dont forget cost for gas, car insurance, food clothing, utilities, etc.

Its very hard to move out I've wanted with my fiance for two adults who have minimum wage jobs, well he doesn't I do. We still live with his mom. Its very expensive especially in CA.

It’s cost me 1700$ to move into my apartment (I had 2 pet deposits to put down as well) and I pay $975 a month in total for my bills. Which is a 1 bed/1 bath in Washington state. It’s not cheap to move in, it takes a lot of saving.

Most apartments require first and last months rent and a deposit, and that’s on top of the application fee. Depending on the apartment they may make you prove you have enough income to pay for it - sometimes that means you need to make 1.5 times the rent every month. If you have a roommate you’ll both be on the lease and both incomes will be taken into consideration. You will also need to think about utilities and groceries and cleaning supplies. Some places have income based pricing. I live in one of the lowest cost of living areas and one bedrooms are 750-900 and two bedrooms 1100-1800.
