do you okay independent play is good?

sometimes i let my son do his thing, i won’t sit with him and i’ll clean or watch my favorite show. but a lot of the time i do! i play with his cars and help with with puzzles and read. 
today someone told me independent play is not good for their health but i seriously can’t see why?

Independent play is important & should be encouraged!! I let my son play independently whenever he is inclined to, & whenever he wants me to join, I do. 👍

My pediatrician encouraged at least 30 minutes of independent play 🤷🏼‍♀️. I work full time, have a house to keep up, bellies to feed, and other responsibilities; sometimes my son will just have to play by himself and he honestly prefers it that way

Independent play is perfectly fine as long as they have some type of interaction throughout the day and are checked on. 
My son does independent play in his playroom and I watch him from the cameras. I’ll go in and play with him the majority of the time or I’ll sit in the reading corner and read while he plays. Typically his independent play can last from 30 minutes to 2 hours and then he will want mommy and daddy time. Or sometimes I’m working on a craft for him and putting together toys with him. 
As long as the child is safe and can be seen and you can get to them quickly if something happens, it’s fine. As long as they see you, know you’re there, it’s ok.

Independent play is perfectly fine. My baby doesn't have a choice but to play alone some times otherwise we won't ever have dinner, clean clothes or clean house to live in.

Independent play is a wonderful thing for them and should be encouraged. Both of my children (3 years and 15 months) love independent play. My 15 month old would much rather play by himself, actually, than with anyone else. While my 3 year old prefers the company of me, my husband, or his brother, he still has fun by himself when his brother is napping and we are busy. 
I have a 4 year old niece and independent play was never encouraged with her and to this day, she still can not or will not play by herself at all and I know it creates a large amount of stress for my sister and for my mother when she is babysitting her.

Independent play is important! Obviously they need you to play too, but they need to play on their own. It builds independence and imagination.
