I only purchased a couple actual nursing tops for when I knew I had to be nursing frequently in public, but most of the time I wore a nursing Cami and bra under my regular shirt. That way I could pull up my shirt and still have my tummy covered.

When looking at nursing tops be sure to pay attention to any tops that access your boobs from the top (such as ones with buttons or zippers going down from the neck). If you use one of those you will have to literally pull your entire boob out of your shirt in order to nurse.
