Will you be caring for your babies alone while on maternity leave?

Question

I'm taking 9 months maternity leave and while my husband will be on leave for their first month at home, the rest of it will be me on my own. A FTM. I didn't think I'd need more hands during the day, but everyone keeps asking who will be with me to assist. What are your plans when babies are here? I'm almost 24 weeks with twin boys.

I have no choice but to go at it alone. I’m currently a SAHM. My husband will get 6 weeks of paternity leave, but I don’t necessarily want him to take all of it. I have an almost 3 year old who will be starting preschool 3 days a week in September, and my twin girls are due in April. She’s going through a very “helpful” stage right now! 😂😂
My husband and I are from different states (we met in college), so we live halfway between my parents and his parents. Zero family here. 😕
The philosophy I’m going by is if others can do it, I can, too! 💪🏼

I’m by myself most of the time with my 4 month old twins and my 3yo son. People asked me the same thing and I just told them I would figure out a way because I had to. Some days are difficult, but there are a lot of good days too! 😊

Im only due in June with twins but I’m going to be taking 18 months maternity leave and my husband doesn’t get any parental leave at his current employment so I’m hoping my parents might come down for a week or two at first to help out but other than that I’ll be going at it alone. I’ve got friends with twins who’ve done it by themselves so I figure I should be able to figure it out too! 😊

It’s possible to do it on your own, but it is not easy. It’s hard when they’re young as you’re having to feed and comfort 2 babies at once, and it’s hard when they get older and are mobile. My twins are one now and I still have my mom come over a couple of times a week to help. I go to a multiples playgroup for babies sometimes, and most moms there have a grandma, nanny or au pair to help, at least on days when they go on outings like that. Unfortunately most activities you can go out and do with them (swimming lessons, music classes etc) require one adult per child.

My SO works nights, so when my boys were born, it was just me all of the time. My SO only had a week and a half off before going back to work.
