The idea behind these tests are to test the LH hormone in your system which you get a big surge of before you ovulate. So when you get a positive test, it means you have the highest surge of the hormone and then you will typically ovulate within 12-36 after you get your surge, so this is when it's the most important to have sex to maximise the chances of pregnancy as, as soon as you ovulate, your egg only lasts about 24 hours. Now to determined what is a positive ovulation test, is when the first line is the same darkness or darker than the second line. Unless stated in the test, these strip ones are best taken between 1-5pm I believe and don't drink any liquids before testing and try and do a 4-6 hour hold depending on when you are testing. Some women test a couple times a day so they don't miss the surge. If you only test once a day, there is a chance you can miss knowing the surge as you could take a test and it be positive and then the next one could be negative. They are quite confusing tbh. But I hoped I made some sense of it for you.
