When to switch formulas

Question

For those that have switched your formula what made you decide to do so. My 6 week old spit up after every feeding but is gaining weight. Trying to figure out if this is normal or if I should switch her to a sensitive formula.

We switched to sensitive formula after my LO was spitting up (but it was a lot) and she would want to eat in like an hour again because she was spitting up half of what she was eating and constantly uncomfortable. We just did it cold turkey, but don’t expect a change overnight. It takes about 3-4 days to notice a real change.

If it's a small amount of spit up it is just normal for some babies. If it's a lot that's another thing. If she's gaining weight as she should most doctors would say it's nothing to be concerned about.

I switched when I noticed discomfort (arching back, crying) when he spit up. And he spit up a decent amount after each feeding and in his sleep. I took it as a sign of reflux and switched to Enfamil AR. SO much better. He still spits up a little after each bottle, but probably 10% of the amount before and with 0 pain or discomfort while doing so. He’s gassier, but the gas no longer causes him pain. He used to cry while passing gas but now just lets it go no problem 😂
