Has anyone had a VBAC?

Has anyone had a VBAC? I had to have a c-section with my 3 year old daughter due to a cord abnormality that made her high risk. My OB said that I have the option with baby #2 to have a repeat c-section or a VBAC. She gave us the stats, but ultimately is leaving the decision up to us and I’m just not sure what to do. I’m interested to hear about people’s experiences with VBAC.

My mum had an emergency section with her first baby but went on to have 3 more babies vaginally. Births were between 27-19 years ago so medicine is better now too. If a VBAC is open to you, I would say go for it. My mum was determined never to have another section because recovery was so much harder than for vaginal birth.

I am 99% certain I am opting for repeat C. To each his own, but, for me, since my body has already experienced C-section trauma and reacted very well, I’m not interested in also subjecting myself to pelvic floor trauma and associated side effects or tearing (which can have long lasting impacts). I suppose if my C had been traumatic or difficult to recover from, I might feel differently. My OB practice is supportive of whatever I want to do - because they are the attending physicians at the hospital where I’ll deliver, they are good with permitting VBAC unless there’s a medical reason to proceed to surgery. I’ve spoken with two of the docs so far, both of whom said I can do what I want, and both of whom are women who had the option and chose repeat C for the reasons I’m leaning toward it. I feel like if doctors who see this choice play out all the time choose repeat C for their own births, that is information I should thoughtfully consider.

I did not attempt a VBac for my second and went with the plan Csection. The recovery and experience was night and day. It was much smoother and recovery was quicker the second time around. But go with what your instincts are. I just didn’t wanna end up with another emergency.

I’m planning on a planned C-Section which will be almost exactly 2 years after my first. I had a horrible labor/large headed baby AND my pelvis never really opened so I won’t be taking that chance again. But I do have MANY friends who have had successfully Vbacs. More then I can count on one hand. I say if you want to go for it!

I have not had one but will be attempting with this pregnancy! I had a csection with my 2.5 year old due to him being breech and I would love to not have to go through the recovery of the surgery with this baby.

I had my daughter who is almost 4 year old via emergency c section. I would like to attempt a vbac but have not discussed with my dr yet.
