When do you change your baby’s diaper if he went after a feeding and he’s now asleep

Question

I try to change the baby’s diaper in between boobs. But sometimes after I do that and feed again the baby poops or pees again. I’ll change him then he wants the boob again. Then I feel like I’m over feeding. He starts getting colicky. Farting and burping. My baby will only fall asleep with the nipple in his mouth. Yesterday I gave him the boobs 4x and changed the diaper 3xs in a row in one feeding. 
Is there a trick to this ? Thank you! New mom

I always changed the diaper before feeding and if she pooped during the feeding I let it be and changed when she was done. Plus my daughter had very bad reflux so if I changed her during feeding, she would vomit all of it out.

If it's a poop, always change it. If it was just pee, leave it

So first of all, it depends on how old your baby is. My son is 6 months old and we do not let him sleep immediately after eating. We stick to the “eat, play, sleep” schedule so that he doesn’t rely on food to go to sleep. The only exception is the one night time feeding that he does still. When he was under 3 months old we let him sleep and eat whenever he wanted to. If he peed sometimes I’d wait until after a feeding to change him but if he pooped I usually changed him once I knew he was finished pooping. Diapers do a pretty good job of absorbing the pee but I didn’t want the poop sitting against his skin too long. When they are under 3 months old they can go through 12-15 diapers a day depending on whether they are breastfed or formula fed.
