IUD experiences?

So I’m 17 and I’m looking into getting an IUD of any kind  I have irregular periods and endometriosis I can’t talk to my mom about any of this she doesn’t even know I’m getting it so i need some advice ive heard good and bad I’m looking into getting the copper one as it lasts the longest however I haven’t decided.. can anyone give me your experience on any of the IUDs theyve had good or bad thanks !

If you have endo dont get the copper it makes periods heavier, longer, and cramps worse. Look into mirena.

The only thing I'd say is that it's not recommended for women who haven't had a baby as its more painful to insert, other than that I've had no issues with my mirena, best contraception I've ever been on

Definitely talk to a doctor as certain IUDs can worsen endo, including copper IUDs. Talking to a doctor is important to understand the hormonal composition of ANY form of birth control so you avoid putting certain hormones into your body that could make endo worse. 
Most birth controls will mask/ help manage symptoms of endo, PCOS, and other diseases, but DO NOT confuse that with birth control curing it.   
I have the Kyleena IUD and love it so far. Hormones in it are of a way lower concentration than what I was ingesting when I was on birth control pills. Extremely effective for birth control purposes.

I have the copper IUD and it definitely makes your periods 10x more painful and heavier. It hurts a lot to insert as well so definitely take some pain meds before you get it put in. The good thing about the copper is it doesn't mess with your cycle. I have irregular periods as well but have found that switching to a mostly paleo and low carb diet helps with that.

I got the 3 year Skyla IUD when I was 18. Best decision I ever made. I didn’t have a period for 3 years, no symptoms, and no worries. Not going to lie, it hurt to insert but I’m a baby when it comes to pain and I’d do it again if I wasn’t married and trying for a baby lol. Worth it.

I was 19 when I had mine. No children. About two weeks after insertion it slipped and partially came out of my uterus. Had to go to the ER and get it removed because one of the edges alerted to embed in my uterine wall. Not even two weeks after mine my cousin had to have emergency surgery because her IUD was floating freely in her abdomen.(and she had had a child) I don’t recommend them to anyone anymore.
