Sister in Law is anti vax... should I take my newborn around her 3 children and newborn?

I feel nervous about showing off our new baby to my sister in law!! (My husbands brothers wife) they are anti vax and the only child that has vaccinations is the oldest, she’s 6. She has two small children and one newborn who she refused to vaccinate. Now I’m feeling sad that her newborn won’t be able to bond with my newborn!! And I want our baby to have their aunt and uncle in their life, but I DONT want to sacrifice our baby’s welfare! Ugh.

I wouldn’t chance it until your baby is vaccinated. Where we live cases of rsv and whooping cough have dramatically risen this year so anyone who isn’t vaccinated or not fully vaccinated will not be seeing my child until she is vaccinated. End of story. 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️ heard immunity is no longer a thing because of anti vaxers.

Some kids can’t be vaccinated and your child WILL come in contact with them. My child is one of them. We stupidly gave him vaccines at a young age despite his allergies as a child and have regretted ever since. We have to take special steps and delay the majority of his vaccinations because of his reactions to them. It’s much safer for him at the age of 4 to get vaccines than it was when we was a baby and because of kids like mine your sister has chosen to not take a chance on her own babies (that’s okay - try not to judge until you watch your child writhing in pain covered in hives/rashes and having a seizure because of a vaccine). Majority of the adults aren’t fully vaccinated according to the new schedule and your baby will be around them (have you had titers done on yourself? Are you safe for your newborn according to your thought process?). Unvaccinated kids aren’t carrying diseases in their pockets and sprinkling them on other kids. Unvaccinated kids will show symptoms BEFORE a vaccinated child and if their parents aren’t idiots they will be smart enough to keep their child home instead of around your child. I’m assuming your sister wouldn’t risk her own newborns safety if her other children were showing symptoms of something dangerous so keep that in mind when you refuse to visit on the grounds of them not being vaccinated.. A vaccinated child won’t know they are spreading measles to your kid because their symptoms are less severe and mostly hidden (which is why vaccines can be awesome if your child doesn’t react to them!). Your child is not safer around vaccinated children and anyone who tells you otherwise is an idiot. Our doctor specifically told us to stay vigilant despite someone being vaccinated or not. Whooping cough was spreading like wildfire where we lived and it was among the up to date vaccinated as well. Your child is safer when you take precautions (no letting strangers touch, no kissing on the areas baby puts in their mouth, constant hand washing/Clorox bleach, and keeping larger kids with big kid germs away from your newborn) NOT just because someone had a vaccine! Vaccines are great at helping lesson the symptoms and you won’t see me telling you otherwise. I will tell you vaccinated children aren’t germ free and you should be just as vigilant around them as you are the unvaccinated.

We chose to wait until 1 year of age when our kids had most of their shots to play with people that were not vaccinated. MMR is a big one and that one isn’t given until 1 years old. Yes, there are people in society that aren’t vaccinated, but my kids weren’t in close contact with them. I would imagine your child would be touched and held by the kids that aren’t vaccinated and that would be too close contact for me

I definitely wouldn’t at newborn stage. Maybe when baby is older and has all of his/her vaccinations and what not, then yeah, but not for a while.

YES, but.... 
I just wouldn’t pass my baby around to unvaccinated people before the baby had built up immunity. My husband and I are getting a pertussis booster before baby is born, for that reason. 
Would I visit their house? Sure. But not if the kids were sick (obviously that goes for anyone, vaccinated or not) And no one would be holding the baby (which I also discourage, vaccinated or not.)
We are homeschoolers so 98% of our friends and family are anti vax. Thankfully my little one will be born just as our homeschool co-op let’s out for the summer. Otherwise, I would have skipped the remainder of co-op because yes, influenza, chicken pox, and whooping cough run rampant through our circle of friends every year. And no, I’m not bringing my baby around that high risk group, in close quarters, until she has built up her own immunity. 
Over the summer, there are less germs and we will be meeting up with friends outdoors where there is less risk of sharing disease. By the time we return to homeschool co-op in the fall, baby will have had enough of a start on her shots that I’m not concerned. 
This is just my own plan based on my own personal level of comfort. I suggest speaking with your pediatrician for more reassurance and guidance. There’s no reason why your littles can’t grow up together. Just be smart. You’ll actually need to be careful not to expose the unvaccinated kiddos when you get live vaccines for your little one (measles/varicella). My friends always appreciated us staying away for a few days after getting any live vaccines. We’ve all developed a mutual respect for each other’s decisions. If you trust the vaccines to work, then you have no reason to keep your kiddos separate.
