Can someone explain to me when so many people love the name poppy ?

I literally cringe every time I hear it. What are names that you can’t stand ?

Because to us In England the poppy is a huge symbol for us and I know a lot of girls women and babies called poppy for this reason. I think it’s beautiful and the fact it means something makes it special

There are a lot of names that make me cringe. I'm not going to post them, though. I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings. I don't see anything wrong with Poppy. Not something I'd name my child, but it doesn't make me cringe and I don't think it's a "bad" name.

I love poppy! I have always loved poppies and think it’s so sweet. I’m American, but have close English relatives and the poppy is a big symbol for them. It’s definitely a different name in the states but it won’t seem so different as it continues to gain popularity here.

I like Poppy. We considered it because my husband's Grandfather was in the Navy in World War II and survived when his ship was sunk. We thought it would be a nice tribute, but we ended up choosing a different name. Our little one didn't look like a Poppy.
