Inappropriate comments

Throughout my pregnancy when ever I seen my nephew he would make comments about how my baby might die.

It made me angry and upset with him which is tough because he’s only 8.

We’ve never particularly got along because I sense a meanness about my nephew. I’ve seen him hit dogs and genuinely not understand why that is unacceptable and why it is cruel. He is very manipulative, and he says mean things to other children when he thinks an adult won’t notice

Now, he and his mom (my sister), are staying with us for a few days. This morning when we woke up I’m holding my baby, and he says in shock (even though he just seen her last night) “she’s still alive?!?”

I find comments like this disturbing, and every time he wants to be close to her I get an awful feeling. I don’t trust him, and I hate that I feel that way.

Is this a weird postpartum feeling of distrust, or should I treat these comments as red flags. Anyone have kids making inappropriate comments like this?
