Snow ?

Question

My birthday is next month. I’m a mommy of two toddlers. I was thinking of telling my husband if we could go to Lake Tahoe for my birthday and invite some family members. Is it a weird thought to spend your birthday at the snow? Never heard of it that’s why. And I’ve also never been to the snow in my life soo if you were to received an invitation like this would you go?

As a canadian I would say unless you are planning on participating in some kind of winter sport or activity while you are there (ie: skiing, sledding, skating, snowboarding) it might just be a cold and boring experience. In the winter I hardly ever go outside because it just isn't very pleasant.

I wouldn’t go as a family member. It’s super far away from me, and I wouldn’t take a weeks vacation for someone else’s birthday like that. Especially since I  don’t ski or enjoy winter sports. 
I don’t think it’s at all weird for you to want to go though, and if it was just a short drive I’d come up for a few hours to celebrate along.

I’m sorry, I’m so stuck on the phrasing. Do people say this in places where they don’t get snow? “The snow” and going to it. I’m trying to equate this with going to “the ocean” or “the forest” in my head, but it’s just not working 😂. Maybe because I live in a cold climate and conceive of snow as fleeting, just weather, rather than a landscape. Though I’d love to say I’m going to “the sunshine” right now. 🥶

Lots of people vacation in snowy places. I prefer beach locations, but I live in Utah so snow is everywhere.

Lake Tahoe sounds like a great place to spend a birthday IF you enjoy winter sports/activities, and don’t have 2 toddlers. 
I have 2 toddlers, and we did a trip for Christmas so they could see the snow, but it was just an overnight trip a few hours away. Any longer would have been pointless because all the fun winter activities aren’t practical with toddlers. 
Also consider all the winter clothing and accessories you will need to get for your little ones that they will probably outgrow before ever wearing again.

That sounds like a lot of fun. Make sure you go equipped with the right stuff. Snow gear, snow tires or snow chains for your car. 
I live not too far from there and spend a lot of time in the area.

We had our family’s Christmas get together at a cabin on the lake and it was beautiful and fun. Although it would have been cool to hang out on their deck in the summertime, we enjoyed it!
