Confused, should i be worried..
FTM. LO is 5 months old and EBF. She weighs 7kgs. Petite. Generally happy baby.
Everywhere it says that fewer than 5-6 wet nappies a day could be a sign of dehydration.
And also, a nappy that stays dry for more than 3 hours could mean dehydration.
My question is:
What does 5-6 wet nappies a day mean exactly, as in does it mean 5-6 wet nappies that are wet and soaked enough to the point of it being time to change them (which would probably mean a pee every half hour or so)?
Or does it just mean nappies that aren't dry and have been peed in? Because my LO soaks up only about 3 nappies a day with just pee. She poops about 4-5 times a day on avg and i change her right away, but they're often just poop and nil or minimal pee. And only about 3-4 times a day, the nappies are also wet or only wet. I usually change her nappy every 4 hours anyway if there hasn't been a poop since the last change.
Also, depending upon the nappy i choose (pant style or taped style as well as the brand), the results vary, so am confused even more.
And about a nappy that stays dry for 3 hours being possible dehydration- does that mean NO pee at all for 3 hours or a minimally soaked nappy in 3 hours?
Someone please clarify.
