Vanishing Naps
Is it typical for a newborn to have great, long naps that just suddenly vanish around 12-13 weeks?
We were born at 37 weeks, so we technically just went through our 8 week developmental leap. He resisted naps as expected, but we are still struggling with them now that we are out of the leap.
What gives? The most we can get out of him is a patchy series of 20-40 minute naps at best. He’s exhausted by the end of the day. We are pulling our hair out over here.
We swaddle, keep the room dark (looking into blackout shades), use white noise, watch for sleepy cues, observe 60-90 minute wake windows, etc. Nothing changed in our approach before now.
