Birth control after c-section?

For those mommas that aren’t breastfeeding who had a c-section... When did you start using birth control again? And what kind did you use post surgery? I’m almost 2 weeks postpartum and I have my checkup in a few days so I’m curious to know if I can start back on birth control now or if I have to wait until my 6 week checkup.

I was given my pills at my 6 week check up. My 3 week check up was not the official postpartum check up to get cleared, it was just to check incision.

My appt was at the 4 week mark and the dr told me to wait till 6 weeks to start the BC
