Language Delay in 24 Month Old Boy
What were your experiences with speech/language delay and speech therapy?
My son will be turning 2 this month and still does not use any words. Literally none. He babbles, yells, and pretends to talk (makes different sounds while adjusting cadence), but he does not appear to purposefully say anything with meaning, at least not that we can understand. Additionally, he understands very little. Phrases/commands that I use consistently he understands and will *usually* obey/react, but his comprehension seems limited.
He’s getting evaluated this week by a speech therapist because his language skills are really starting to worry me, but are there any other moms out there with similar experiences? Both of my sisters had to be in speech therapy, one of them until she was 10 (she still wasn’t understood by my parents by age 3), and my nephew didn’t start talking til 2.5. Everyone tells me “he’s fine! He’ll talk when he’s ready!” But I can’t help it 🙈
