Do you use a coat in the car seat?

I often feel like we are the only people who take off our sons coat to put him in the car seat. I’ve read that it’s safest to not have a bulky coat on while in the car seat. For those of you in cold/snowy climates in winter, do you use a coat in the car? Have you found a more convenient solution? I hate taking off his coat and putting it back on again, but I want to be safe.

I made a carseat poncho and have blankets in the car... I also warm up the car

No coats here! I live in Indiana so we get real cold. It’s inconvenient to take it off and put it back on, but totally better than the car set malfunctions that can happen with the coat on in the seat! Safety is more important than the small amount of time it takes to put it back on!

We do a thin fleece or down like coat. It’s pretty cold where we live so we try and warm up the car before and always have a blanket in the car for her.

Thick coats no. Sweatshirt or thin jackets yes.  When it’s cold we do layer and I keep his big jacket in the car to cover up with as a blanket.

I feel like I’m the only one too!! I put my sons coat on backwards so it’s a little easier to get on and off him. People give me funny looks when we get where we r going and some tease him “your coats on backwards kid!” But I just smile and tell them why. It’s annoying but people are ignorant and my kid is safe so I don’t care.

Nope. Not safe. We take them off and put them back on or just use a thicker sweater if it's not too cold.
