How early for an ultrasound?

I'm going in for my 8 week appointment and I called to see if there would be an ultrasound since my husband has twins that run in his family as well as my family. They told me they only do an ultrasound at 20 weeks.... So I can't see my baby for 20 weeks?

Unless you have bleeding or other complications, a lot of doctors only do a 20 week scan. There are a ton of 3D/4d places that you can pay out of pocket to see your baby. At 8 weeks there isn't much to see, but it can give you piece of mind.

They usually do a scan around 6-10 weeks so they can date the pregnancy and see for sure how far along you are. At least that what the drs I had with my kids did.

I would go to the ER and make up something because dr wouldn't see me until 8 weeks and it would take 2 weeks more to get an app and I have history of Miscarriage and that would bring peace of mind .

All depends on your insurance and whether or not you are deemed high risk or not. Some insurances cover early US but a lot don't. So don't get your hopes up.
