I had an internal first degree tear that was pretty big. It wasn’t far off from being a 2nd degree tear. I worked with midwives and they knew I had a needle phobia. I asked if it would heal on its own and they said yes, so we let it be. It did! Our bodies are amazing.

It would have to be a little tear if they thought it would heal on its own. Otherwise, that’s just negligence.

I had tiny little knicks that didn’t require stitches. If you test majorly, you need stitches for it to heal properly. There’s no way around it past a certain degree of tearing.

I want whatever needs to be fixed done immediately and correctly. I have a very small spot that probably couldn’t be stitched due to the location that is still a little sore at times over a year later.

My second was an unassisted home birth, but I went in after a few hours to have both of us looked over. I had some grazing on the sides of my labia. They asked if I wanted it stitched up or not as it was no longer bleeding. I declined. 
You can decline and self heal anything under a 3rd degree tear by keeping your legs together and using honey.

I had what was classified as "lacerations" and my midwives didn't stitch them up, they healed fine. But they also were not tears, and neither was on my perineum.

I had a tiny tear on my perineum, it wasn’t stitched and it’s completely unnoticeable 7 years later.

I had a teeny tiny tear, didn't need stitches, and healed up just fine. I was just told to be careful getting in and out of bed, and no stairs for a week. At my pap smear 9 weeks pp, the midwife couldn't even tell where the tear had been.
