My iron is super low

Yesterday I had an apt to make sure I don’t have diabetes but they also checked my iron. I’m 28 weeks and 2 days. This morning I got a call saying the test came back negative but my iron is really low so they are starting me on iron pills today. They are going to re test me at 32 weeks to make sure it went up. I asked will this effect my baby in any way and she said no but if I have low iron during labor it could make me lose a lot of blood and I could need a blood transfusion and now I’m super scared hearing her say that.
