Baby won’t sleep

The last few night have been tough. My daughter is visibly sleepy and refuses to go to sleep. She’s 5 months old and when I’m trying to put her to sleep she just screams and cries and hits/kicks me for at least an hour until she gives up and finally goes to sleep. Then a little while later she wakes up screaming and crying again which lasts for another hour and this repeats at least 3/4 times and only happens at night. She’s fine during her day naps. Also she bangs her head when going to sleep. Not sure what’s going on or if it’s a norm part of development but i and so so tired and desperately need sleep. Anyone have any advice on how to get her to sleep easier and stay sleep? I have a strict bed time routine I’ve been doing since was about 2 months and it’s worked very well up until now. Please help!
