How do you guys feel about my MIL doing this?

Question

Whenever we bring my son over to MIL she always tries to take off his diaper to let him “breath” In the summer in her front yard she wanted to and I said “no he’s fine” and she’s like “you want to be out of your diaper, tell mommy that” and stuff like that. How would you guys deal with that? She always does the comments like “tell her you want to be left alone” and it annoys the f out of me.
Edit- a lot of you guys are saying that going diaper free is okay.. Obviously I know that but I let him go diaper free on my time at my home. Not somewhere where we only go to once a month. There’s no reason for that. It’s not like we NEED to have him diaper free the one time he’s at grandmas.

If you’re asking her not to do something with YOUR child and she does it anyways, that’s disrespectful. She’s undermining you as a parent and I know exactly how frustrating it is.

I think the part that would be frustrating is her telling you to leave him alone.   But I think she has good intentions.  It's got to get hot and uncomfortable in that diaper.  I used to take my daughter's diaper off for tummy time so she could air out.   I definitely wouldn't do it in the front yard though, that's a little weird.

I 100% agree that it’s good for baby’s skin to have some diaper-free time. Diapers aren’t very breathable, and having regular naked time helps prevent diaper rash. 
However I haaaaate the manipulative “fake commiserating with baby about how terrible mom is” shtick. It’s rude and super passive aggressive. I’d definitely ask your partner to keep an ear out and shut that down next time he hears it happening.

My mom does this...I think it's amusing. I do this to my husband, my husband does it to me.  Shit, my older kids even do it and my dad has done it. I think it would be different if it was an older child where youre tiptoeing the line of encouraging them to be disrespectful, but for a baby I think it's all in good fun.

That's super weird. I've never let my.kids go diaper free more than 20 seconds lol when they think it's funny to run away when I try and change them. And to allow him to run butt naked in the front yard is not ok. Too many perverts around for me to be comfortable doing that.

That’s really freaking weird and no way in hell I would let her do it again. Women can be pedos too and while I’m not necessarily accusing her of that, it’s always a possibility.

I have no problem with naked babies. My sister ran around naked at home til she was like 7 haha But I do have a HUGE problem with people forcing nakedness on a child. What she’s doing is extremely creepy and concerning and I would not be okay with that at all. ESPECIALLY the whole “tell your mom you want to be naked” thing she’s doing. Like we do that sometimes where we’ll tell my niece to tell my husband he’s stinky. It’s cute and funny. What she’s doing is disrespectful and unacceptable.
