Cloth diaper recommendations?

I’m considering using cloth diapers while at home and disposables for out in public (maybe). I’m interested in hearing what everyone’s favorite cloth brands are and why. Also, if you have any tips or know of any blogs that may be helpful I’d really appreciate you sharing!😊

I use pocket diapers. The only two brands I use are Alva and Mama Koala. I prefer Alva when they're very young and still and need the rise snapped down. Reason being that the rise snaps are stronger on these than MK. And I prefer Mama Koala when they are taller and no longer need the rises snapped because they're slimmer.

And I always use bamboo inserts. Microfiber ones aren't great for their skin and aren't very absorbent. When you buy from Alva on their site one by one (cheaper than the packs on Amazon), you can choose to add bamboo inserts. You can't do that when you buy them on Amazon. And MK comes with microfiber, so I had to buy bamboo inserts and disregard the microfiber ones they came with. But they're great for cleaning spills around the house, so they aren't totally useless.

At night, I also use pockets. But ONLY Kawaii Goodnight Heavy Wetter with two bamboo inserts on top (absorb faster) and one hemp on the bottom. Hemp has to go on the bottom because while it absorbs way more than bamboo, it absorbs more slowly and will leak if you don't use something on top of it.

I prefer pockets because they're way slimmer than flats/prefolds + covers. And they're less expensive than All In Ones. And they're easy. I use snaps instead of velcro. Just put the insert in the pocket and snap them right on baby. They're also one size so my oldest used them from birth until potty training. And my second went into them at birth and is still in them at 15 months.

I'm very happy with pockets and the brands I use. I really wouldn't choose any other. They are also very durable. I've used the same diapers for three years between two children. The Mama Koalas have had NO issues at all. While one of the Alva diapers has had the leg gussets wear out and one has had the pocket gusset wear out, but both "malfunctioning" diapers are still very useable on my children. They may not work well on a skinny baby once the gussets wear out though. But I have 30 Alvas and only two have had that issue. And I have 18 Mama Koalas, none of which have had issues.

The ONLY con I have with these diapers is that you do have to go up one pant and onesie size. And my kids are short, so that means all of their pants have to be rolled up. But a tall (maybe even average height) baby probably won't have the same issues my kids have. And it's only an issue in the winter, as their shorts fit just fine.

EASIEST cloth diaper system is Flips and Flats. Ill never use anything else.
