My husband won’t let me cut our sons hair... what should I do?

Alright so one thing that my husband and I have NEVER agreed on is what hair looks good. My husband likes “messy” hair. I have no idea why. He always tells me my hair looks the absolute best when I wake up in the morning . (Total rats nest) I love the man but I have never particularly liked his hair 🤷🏻‍♀️ he has never had a proper hair cut in his life. Absolutely refuses to go to a barber and cuts his own hair. He has a nice face and physique so I put up with his hair. In a few years he won’t have any anyway 😆 
But now we have a son. A beautiful two year old boy. I really want to cut our boy’s hair but my husband is adamantly against it. I’m frustrated because I feel like my sons appearance is a reflection of me and his hair is always sooo messy. He looks unkempt and not taken care of. Most people assume he’s a girl, which is whatever but I do want him to a have a cute proper boys haircut. 
Is it unreasonable for me to want to cut his hair? Should I have a choice here? It’s just frustrating because getting what I want requires action and his option is do nothing. He automatically wins. I have had many conversations about this with him and it turns into a fight. What can I do?

Cut it and tell him to get over it, it can grow back. Marriage is about compromise and he doesn’t seem to want to do that in this situation, so I would do what I feel is best for my son. He’s being extremely unreasonable because his hair does look like it’s not being taken care of and I can see how that could affect you while out in public. I’m sure your a great mom, but having to feel like people are judging you or making you feel like a bad parent, is something he should be taking seriously. It’s just hair dad 🤷🏽‍♀️

I personally hate long hair on boys so I would cut it and deal with my husbands reaction later on. One thing I cannot deal with is messy hair. My husband doesnt have long hair, but also doesnt care what his looks like. If your husband is absolutely against cutting it, try finding products you can use to tame it. 
From the pictures you have posted, your sons hair doesnt look healthy and cared for. A good trim can help with the appearance of his hair.

Id just take him (the child) to a barbershop for a tidy up. Sod your husband, the boy is your child too. Do u have the same kind of arguments over what clothes your son wears?

Suggest getting it trimmed or just taking off two inches or so. That way it is still longer but it is more tame. Or you could suggest getting it cut now and seeing what it looks like and if he doesn’t like the short hair it will grow back.

Maybe you leave it longish but get it cleaned up.
You both get a say. So he needs to meet you in the middle.
(I personally agree with you, it looks like it is need of care & doesn't do him justice.)

That would be really hard for me. I shaved our sons head at two weeks because I didn’t like the whole balding mullet look lol. By one year he had three haircuts. A parents job is teaching children how to take care of themselves and proper hygiene. So that’s so difficult when the two parents ideas of what that looks like differ. I personally would explain all the reasons you told us in this post and put my foot down. I don’t know if I could put up with that and I totally understand your reasoning. I wouldn’t do it behind his back or anything. But I would insist. If my child wants long hair when he’s 13 great. But as a toddler that’s my responsibility.

Having hair cuts is proper hygiene and self care. Kids need to learn from a young age. If they don’t, they’ll end up unkempt adults. Honestly, just from what I can see of your husband, he looks unattractive because his hair is so bad. He may be okay with that look, but he shouldn’t force it on his kid. Get his hair cut and tell him to get over it. It’ll grow back, healthier too.

Don't cut it then🤷‍♀️My son had his first haircut when it was bothering his eyes. Later we only cut his hair when he says he wants it cut. Its his hair, he can do whatever he wants with it🤷‍♀️
