It’s so worth it: My brutal labor and delivery story
For anyone who’s listening or even experiencing a pregnancy any bit related to mine, know you’re not alone and no matter how hard it gets during pregnancy, labor, delivery, or recovery, it’s TOTALLY worth it.
I’m writing this 4 days postpartum as a first time momma that had a pretty brutal labor and delivery, so recovery is still very much in full swing but it does get easier every day and that newborn will change your whole perspective.
Some backstory, I had a pretty flawless pregnancy with only some weight management issues (weighed 214 pounds prior and gained 50 pounds) so really just was tired from carrying the weight around and I had quite a bit of swelling in my feet but pretty bearable. Up until 30 weeks when out of the blue my blood pressure levels were high at 153/90. They rechecked that day and sent me home without taking blood or urine samples because my BP was fine by the end of appt. Came back the next week and BP levels were back up. They went ahead and diagnosed me with gestational hypertension and took blood and a 24 urine test which ended up stating my kidneys were spilling protein into my urine and they then diagnosed me with “mild preeclampsia” because my BP levels were still in the “mild” range. This explained the swelling I was having but I really didn’t have any other symptoms of pre-e up until like 2 days before my induction. We went ahead and scheduled an induction for 1/04 at 37 weeks and I began being monitored twice a week. And as long as BP levels stayed in the mild range, I would be induced and not a c section... keep reading in the comments.
