Doesn’t know if any grandchild will top the first

Hi everyone,

I was talking to my MIL about my nephew (my MIL’s first and only grandchild at the moment). My MIL told me that she doesn’t know how any other grandchild will ever top my nephew because he is just that great. He truly is such a sweet boy, and I love him dearly. But I was very surprised that she felt like no other grandchild would ever compare, as my husband and I are trying to conceive as well. I have obviously never had a child, we’ve been TTC for 6 months now.. So, is this something usual to feel that the next child will not compare because they aren’t presently here and a relationship hasn’t been formed?
