Do you pay your sitter ahead for the month or after the month ends?

I just went back to work last week and use a private sitter to watch my son. I paid her $900 for the month of Jan. 
I plan to pay her $900 a month every month at the begining of the month. My only concern with this is if I decide to go with another sitter in the future we would have to stick it out the whole month to not lose any money.
How do you pay your sitter and or daycare  center?

Pay weekly instead. That way if she decides she isn't able to care for your child, you aren't out of the money and she isn't paid for the time of she didn't work it. If that makes sense ?

At the end of each week. I pay my sitter hourly. So I keep track of the time and pay her on the last day that she watches my son for that week.

I think if you pay for the month, she should give back what you didn’t use ya know. But if she won’t do that, then pay weekly.

When I babysit, I am usually paid once at the end of the week. At the daycare centers where I have worked, their policy was to pay the Friday before for the next week of care, so that differs a little. 
I am fine being paid at the end of the week because that way if the child happens to not come one day or leaves early I don’t have to figure up how much time the parent paid me for and didn’t use.

I charge monthly at the beginning of the month and require 30 days notice to cancel so I have time to fill the spot.

If you decide to change sitters mid-month, they typically require you to give a couple weeks notice so you’re better off letting them know on the 15th, you won’t be requiring care anymore and starting new care on the 1st.
