How was it transitioning from 1 to 2 children?

Question

How did you manage getting the baby to sleep with another child to look after? How did you manage things like grocery shopping?
Was the jump from 0 to 1 or 1-2 harder?
We’re thinking about if/when we might start TTC our 2nd.

Honestly, our transition from 1 to 2 was hardest. Our son was 2.5 when our second baby boy was born. He had a very hard time adjusting to sharing attention etc. Grocery shopping was "easy" I just put baby in a wrap and our toddler in the cart. It's not easy but definitely worth it. The transition from 2-3 was a breeze lol

My girls are almost 4 years apart so the jump from 0-1 was definitely harder.. she is sooo much help gets the baby’s things for me (blankets,pacifier, etc.) she throws away diapers and is old enough to understand the baby needs us and that she is a big girl and we still love her just as much as sister.. 1-2 was sooo easy that I 100% want a 3rd 😂

Our daughter was 17 days shy of 3 when we had our son. We talked about her baby brother very early on, we got 4 big sister books for her, had the pack and plays, the swings, and his room set up from 24w on. She and I would sit down and snuggle and I’d hold her like I’d hold the baby (she thought it was hilarious) and she would ‘talk’ with mason once or twice a week especially at the end. We made sure she knew when mommy was leaving to go ‘get’ mason, and she got to come in and meet him with just mommy and daddy then introduce him to Grammy and Mimi. 
All of that she has been very good with him but she’s also been a little extra needy, she always wants daddy or I to go with her to wherever she’s going in the house, her room, the bathroom. But she’s also been a super big sis, she loves getting little bros paci, and letting us know when he’s fussing (because we don’t already hear him 😂), helping gather diaper changing supplies, taking empty bottles out to the sink (because being in the kitchen is a big girl privilege).

For us the jump from 1-2 was way harder. My first was 2.5, and it wasn’t necessarily him that made it difficult, he adjusted quick and didn’t have many issues, but figuring out how to juggle two was so f’n hard. We had such a good routine with our toddler and trying to fit a newborn into that was tough. And the overwhelming guilt, omg, soooo much guilt that I was ruining my first’s life by making him share me with another baby and the guilt that I wasn’t giving my 2nd the same attention I’d given my first as a newborn. It got easier after a few months, but sometimes we still wish we had the 4-5 year gap we originally wanted.

Yea so I’m pregnant with #5 and the hardest transition was from 1 to 2. But I promise you will find a flow!!

I agree that the transition from 1-2 was much harder. However, personally I was also doing it as a single mom at that point so I'm sure that didnt help. My son was also 2.5 when my second son was born. My oldest showed a lot of love towards his brother but it was definitely obvious it was a hard transition for him. It was also hard for me since I had my oldest on such a great routine and once my second was born I had to figure out a whole new routine. I also never realized how much longer it takes to get multiple kids ready to leave. I remember getting both kids ready for my youngest first doctors appointment and thinking about how I understood better why people with multiples are late so often lol. Even now my oldest is almost 4.5 and my youngest is about to turn 2 and I have to wake up a good 2 hours before leaving in the morning. I'm due with my 3rd in March and honestly nervous about the transition from 2-3 and have to keep reminding myself I'm not doing it alone this time around.
