HFMD!!! When does the disinfecting stop?

My son is 11 months old with a birthday on Monday! He was exposed (which I just found out today) to an HFMD infestation at daycare and of course he got it! He had fever Sunday night to Monday, malise, super grumpy and not eating Monday to Tuesday. He was officially diagnosed today because he has sores that appeared overnight. I had no idea what was happening because we've all been sick, and he is cutting two teeth. But when does the disinfecting stop? Doctor said he is ok to go back to daycare Monday, I tore the house apart today cleaning everything he could slobber on. Anyone with experience? Internet isn't being very clear.
