Ready to have a baby?

How do you know what you're ready to have kids? I'm 22 right now and just got married. I've always known I wanted kids but right now I can't imagine having a baby, I'm just not ready. I'm just curious to peoples experiences of how did you know you were ready to have a baby? Was it gradual or all of a sudden?

I just turned 25 last month... I've always said I wanted my first to be born when I was 24/25 because I want kids young so I can experience as much as possible with them!! My boyfriend and I aren't married, but we've been together just shy of 4 years. We were waiting until he finished school (which he has) and we got our own place (3 weeks ago!!) before getting married. We just happened to have a little surprise two months after he graduated, and she should arrive within the week!! 😊

I had my 1st baby at 17. I didnt want kids then.  But after havin my son its all i could think about. Im only 24 and trying for my second child. Its takin me 7 yrs to even want to try to have kids. But if its something thats for you itll happen in its own time.

All my life I said I would never have kids, my husband and I are high school sweethearts and he too always said he didn't want kids. We got married in 2012 and even said then we wouldn't have kids, we just agreed we didn't want a baby and the expenses and the time etc... I really don't know what our wake up call was? We just woke up one day and BAM we both agreed it's time lol Maybe close friends having children and seeing them work around a baby, maybe that our parents are getting older, I'm not sure. But I can say that having our house paid off, both having new reliable cars, both have health insurance, hubby owns his business on the side and that we both have our heads on our shoulders had drastically played a role in trying for a baby. So needless to say we both want a baby in the worse way, we've been TTC for 9 months now and praying everyday!😕

I married my high school sweetheart when I was nineteen years old. We've been together since I was fifteen, which was ten years ago. We've been married for six years. Very shortly after we married, about seven months in, I got pregnant. We were absolutely unprepared. Our financial situation was not where it needed to be and we had just moved thousands of miles away from family. Unfortunately, at 10 weeks gestation I had lost the pregnancy. The hurt I felt was unreal. The odd thing about it was I had no desire to have children before that pregnancy. None at all. I used to joke about having absolutely no maternal instinct. Well, needless to say, baby fever was strong after my loss. We eventually went on to get pregnant with my first son that following January, so three months after my first miscarriage. I was twenty when I gave birth to him. Now, five years later I have two beautiful children with the the love of my life at the age of twenty-five. I guess, the important thing is to follow your heart. You know what's right for you. You have plenty of time to decide when it's the right time for children. If you aren't feeling it now, than enjoy your time without babies. Me time will be rare after that. Everyone is different and that's perfectly okay. It'll all come together in time. :-)

I wonder the same thing. All my life I wanted to have a baby so badly, and after I met my husband I really wanted to see him as the father of my child. But now that I'm married it seems like reality has sunk in or something, and I feel like I could be happy never having a baby. Or at least I feel like I would rather adopt, so that I won't have to feel any guilt about bringing a child into this world.

Honestly, I always knew I wanted kids, but knew I didn't want them just yet, you'll actually know when you're ready you'll feel it, you'll feel so complete and happy with your SO and know that life is ready and you're missing one more thing, (a beautiful angel) 👶🏻🍼.  You'll definitely feel when you're ready.

u just know. just make sure one person has a job cuz its expensive. sounds like common sense but people dont take precautions n wind up like that n nobody is working

I never wanted children, EVER. I had always said that I hate kids and they are so annoying ...etc. my husband and I both agreed that we didn't really want children , but if it happened , we would be happy and make it work.

In the past 6 months , I suddenly got major baby fever and now it's all I can think about. Oh I'm 25 and my hubby is 34. My husband and I both love to travel and be spontaneous and go on dates often and such,  but we know we can still do many of those things once we have kids, we will make it a point to. Our relationship has to be #1 priority so we can be the strongest we can be so we can be the best parents we can be.

You will just know. It's literally a switch that goes off in your mind and heart one day,  that doesn't really go away.

I am 24 and my husband is 27 and we are just now ready. We've been together since I was 18 and we've done a lot, moved around the country, traveled, worked, graduated  college, we are more settled now. It's hard to explain what changed with me because I have always been the one wanting to wait and have children later, We are both from a small town and we've seen so many of our friends just settle and never want to experience life or the world and I never wanted to be that person who was "trapped at a young age" or left any resentment towards anyone for my life disgust ion. But not it's so different. I think sometimes you actually do just change your mind or feel like you want that. I see my friends getting pregnant before and I felt sorry for them in a way because they were going to miss out on so much being young. Now I just feel jealous and envious because my husband and I would be so happy to be accepting a child into our family. It's really crazy to go from one end to the other so quickly but it really happens. It's like all of a sudden this internal instinct has come over us lol. I think with us we wanted to much out of life and we've made a lot of that happen, and we've realized that just because we have a child that doesn't mean our lives are going to be over just different and probably better. 😊

I might be a bad one to ask because I'm expecting my first at 33 lol. But I didn't get married until last year. My hubs is 34 and this is our first. I did a lot in my twenties. 2 master's degrees, traveled a lot (I'm in the military) and went through some crappy relationships. I finally felt like I was in the right place. A lot of people, however, are more than ready in their early to mid twenties. It's kind of true that you'll never feel totally 'ready' I'm 28 weeks and still freaking out but I'm more ready now than I've ever been. I think you will know. You're so young that you have plenty of time if you fee like you want to wait a few years. I would talk to your hubby, get on the same page and enjoy life as a married couple for awhile. When the time is right, you'll know
