FTM question: Not dilated- 37 weeks. BEHIND?!

I’m 37 weeks and I’m not dilated at all. Had my first cervical check this last week. I keep seeing others post they are 1-3CM dilated! I’m due Feb 7... does this mean I need to start drinking the tea and trying to help speed it along? And I’ll most likely be late?!

Dilation does not indicate labor. You can sit at 3cm for 4 weeks or go from high closed and hard to baby in 6 hours.

Is this your first? If so, it’s very normal not to dilate at all until labor is setting in.

This was me last week and I was so let down!! I’m 38 this week and just left my appointment. 50% effaced 2 1/2 cm dilated and station -1

With my first I didn’t dilate early at all. Went to my 39 week appointment and wasn’t dilated. Went a couple days after I was 40 weeks and I was at a 1, but only because contractions had started that night before so I was in the really early stages of labor.

It doesn't mean anything. It's not a head start or indicator of when labor will come.

I didn’t dilate my last 2 pregnancies until I was in labor. It doesn’t really mean much.  Some people dilate a bit early on others don’t.

It doesn't mean anything. A lot of doctors and midwives don't check before you're in labor. Or unless you oot for a sweep or something.
