Is Casper usable as a first name?

I LOVE the name Casper, but I also wouldn't want my child to be doomed to a life of hearing the same Casper the Friendly ghost references for eternity. Is there the possibility that this generation won't even really know the reference?

This is one of my top contenders. My 10 year old daughter has no idea who Casper the friendly ghost is. I've asked her friends, they don't either.
