My MIL is such a superficial woman

My MIL always told me she wanted to visit my parents and go to their house when they visit our city so I invited my mil to my parent’s house for the first time and my parents are immigrants who have worked so hard all their lives. She came in, we served her food, gave her gifts and she didn’t even give a single compliment to our house or food... i felt so awkward... she hardly spoke and kept having a bit of an uncomfortable face... I could see the embarrassment and sadness of my mother’s face, feeling guilty for not having more... the house is always extremely clean and very cosy - we have had so many visitors and we get so many compliments on how cosy our house is, or just say something nice to be polite. My mother invited her to the kitchen to check the view at the back and she stepped in for less than a second and left to the living room like she didn’t wanna be there... how rude... i always knew there was something fishy about her
