Multiple egg retrievals?

Has anyone had multiple egg retrievals? Was it back to back or was there a specific waiting period between first retrieval and start of next IVF cycle?

We will be doing two cycles back to back if we don't get enough embroys to freeze. We are doing IVF with genetic testing and want to have enough embroys to complete our family. My doctor strongly reccomends it as it makes the most sense to do back to back cycles (or have a cycle break between the two) before implantation and get enough embryos now rather than wait and do another cycle later when the eggs are older.

First in may.. 2 embryos  but one was rated fair 
Second in August 5 normal embryos

January - egg retrieval - 1 blast
February - canceled transfer due to fluid in lining
March - transfer - failed
April - egg retrieval - 1 blast 
May - transfer - failed
June - new doctor so did tests
July - egg retrieval - 4 normal tested blasts
August - more tests
September - mental break
October - transfer - success

Hi Kay,
I think it depends on your treatment plan.  I had back-to-back egg retrievals, twice (for a total of 4 retrieval￼ cycles) with about 3 months in-between each set due to an early miscarriage and a failed transfer.  For myself, I had a low turnout of PGS normal embryos after testing a large amount, so we knew we needed to double our numbers to get at least a few normal embryos.  
It is hard on your body, but for me, it was almost as if my body started to adjust to the cycles (not necessarily a good thing, I know).  I had a very rough first retrieval experience (OHSS), but because we did this repeatedly, my doctor was able to adjust my meds so that I had an easier recovery time.  That’s just me - I know there are other women who felt that more time off between cycles was beneficial. 
I’m sure you’ve spoken with your doctor, but make sure to ask any and every question you might have about the process - and if you feel it’s too much, you can always take time off in-between cycles, whatever you and your doctor feel is best for you.  Best of luck!
