Employer asked if I could work remotely during my leave.
Today I had a meeting with 2 upper management leaders (males). I manage a pretty large team and have a pretty important role (not to toot my own horn). I am going to take the full allowed time of 12 weeks leave. I get no paid maternity leave. Only disability for 6 weeks and then unpaid FMLA for the other 6 weeks.
We were discussing the plan for while I am out and they asked if I was willing the work remotely during my leave. I didn't really know how to respond and they didn't give specifics. I ended up saying "No" but mentioned I would be open to working remotely when my leave was over. Currently I am not allowed to work remote. They essentially said no as well.
What do you thinking their objective was? Do they want me to cut my leave early? Or more or a "checking in" situation. If I can be paid my salary to check in for a couple hours at the end of my leave that may be something I'm open to. I just don't know how I will feel.
And it was very off putting that they rejected my work from home option after my leave so quickly when others in my company work remote.
