Is my Dr. being too pushy with IVF?

Question

So we have been TTC for almost two years. I got pregnant in Jan. 2018 but it was ectopic. We found out then I have PCOS.

The surgery caused my right tube to scar closed, so now I ovulate on both sides... but can only get pregnant if the left side is ovulating. So 50-50 ish every month.

Went to a Fertility specialist last year and she put me on Femara (letrozole). I’ve been taking it for a year now. The Dr has only checked my Progesterone twice, and only checked to see if I am actually ovulating three times... in a year. I finally got pregnant again in November, but miscarried at six weeks. All my Dr did was have me come in to check my HCG levels afterward...

Every time we see her at her office she is pushy about

, and recommends we get a second insurance. She now is saying there isn’t anything else she can do and wants to start

.

It seems fishy to me- I don’t feel like she has done much to actually help us- or am I being to sensitive? I mean, it’s only been a year.

You have to be your body’s advocate. If you don’t feel like IVF is the next step, I would get a second opinion. 
But yes, she sounds really push on IVF. My RE was the same way and I told him no, that I wanted to do Letrozole first. Two months later I was pregnant and had a healthy baby boy who is now 8 months old. Doctors don’t always know what’s best.

I think it would depend on how old you are? I personally would want to start IVF if I were in your position. What is the reason you don’t want to do it? Is it mainly cost?
I don’t think it’s necessary to be monitored if you are doing that many letrozole cycles. My doctor monitored me for 3 letrozole cycles and was happy for me to continue unmonitored for up to 9 cycles (so 6 unmonitored). After 5 cycles (including 3 monitored) we decided to move on to IVF. I’ve also been trying for 2 years and have had 1 miscarriage in 2018

I’ve noticed a lot of doctors jump to ivf, so I started seeing multiple REs to get second opinions.

I tried to conceive for YEARS!!!!!!! MY journey  was long........but..... if I wanted to do it all again.  YES DO IVF! It's tough...be ready. Financially,  emotionally,  physically and mentally! I give all and glory to God. I have one daughter!

It does seem a little much considering that you obviously can get pregnant naturally. I guess you could just keep trying, but maybe IVF was suggested as a way to make it happen faster? If you don’t agree with your doctor, there’s no harm in seeking a second opinion.

It does seem a little pushy to me too especially because she’s only checked ovulation a few times. I’m on clomid right now and I have to go in every cycle day 21 to check ovulation. He’s also done an ultrasound. I would be finding another dr for a second opinion. Before going to IFV, I would want to feel like all other options had been given a chance.
