6 month check up and BLW a "NO"... 🤔

Nicole

So Ember went for her 6 month check up today and everything was great! 16.10 lbs and 26 inch! Meeting the normal milestones too. (Although when I told ped she can roll from back to belly but not roll back on her back yet she said it was ok and that she was doing the harder way first- from back to belly and normally they learn belly to back first... ? Seems like most of the posts I see here are back to front first?)

Anyway we talked about solids and purees which I had been giving Ember already and I asked about baby led weaning... and her pediatrician said she wasnt a fan of it and didnt understand why it was even a thing.??

I've been giving Ember soft green beans and soft squishy bananas to chew with her gums and its been working out great, of course she needs help finding her hand to mouth sometimes and the ped said def continue with that, but she didnt reccomend BLW.

Any others out there that had their pediatrician say something similar? Why is it not recommended? Choking hazard or not getting enough to eat on their own? (I would obviously help her get her food if she was struggling and not getting full)

My sister in law started BLW recommended by her pedi at 6 months and now at 10 months she eats well on her own and will eat just about anything given to her, so I thought it was a really good idea, seeing it first hand.

What are your thoughts? Is our pedi just old fashioned? Lol 😅

Oh and we got the ok to start peanut butter several times a week, Ember booboo LOVED it! ☺
