IUD, long lasting period

Hey guys! I got my IUD inserted in early November of 2019 so its all pretty new for me.

My current period cycle has now lasted 9 days and its not just a little spotting I’m having enough blood to use a regular size tampon. Has anyone else experienced something similar to this?

Just by some google searches it says it sometimes may be related to the hormone changes. However I was on birth control pills for 3 years before getting my IUD. Not sure if the hormone change is that drastic.

I plan on calling my gynecologist and doctors tomorrow or might wait a day or two.

Just kind of freaked out a little bit!
