When did you know ?

When did you know how many eggs were retrieved? Did the dr tell you immediately after your retrieval or did they call you later? And when did you know how many made it to Day5/6 blasts?

Immediately for how many were retrieved.  Day after how many were mature and fertilized. Day 3 how many were still growing. Day 5 and 6 how many were blastocyst.

They told me immediately after retrieval, called the next day to tell me how many fertilized, and called day 5 to say how the embryos were doing.

I knew right away. It was the first thing the nurse said when I came out of anesthesia.

Immediately after egg retrieval procedure the doctor told me how many eggs were retrieved.
Then I got call next day , day 3 , 5 and 6 for Update .

They can tell you how many eggs were retrieved  right after, but it may not be accurate. I don't think you can see them with the naked eye.  The embrologist takes a look and at my office they ring a little bell when they have one. Because of that, the counts I got when I left were not always accurate. I don't know if it is because the nurse was just giving me an estimate based on how many times the bell rang.  The first retrieval I had was right on, but the second and third retrieval, I actually ended up having more eggs retrieved than they originally told me. 
The number that fertilize is more important. They will call you the next day about that. 
As for other updates along the way, just ask them what updates they can give you. Some days they don't want to disturb them, so they'll leave them alone. You should def get a day 5 update though.
