Anyone not returning to work?

I had reasons to be concerned I would be let go earlier than my due date once a replacement was found if I told my employer I wasn’t planning on returning after baby but I feel sooo guilty for not being honest about it. Anyone else in similar situation? If yes, when are you telling your employer?

If you have maternity benefits like short term disability/maternity pay or long term disability that you are using for income while off I would not tell them until 2 weeks before your supposed to come back.  Two weeks notice is fair, if you have benefits you earned them/paid into them and should use them.

I haven't told them that I'm not returning. I don't make good money and I'm only getting paid 6 of my 12 weeks off, only 60% of my pay, and have to keep paying my ridiculously high insurance premiums all 12 weeks. I'm currently trying to get Medicare and keeping my mouth shut. 
It's not a great job and has a high turnover rate so I don't feel terrible. My boss doesn't have high standards for his employees and it's made for some pretty rotten work conditions (ahem - coworkers) so my guilt is drastically reduced.

I let my employer know a month ago that I’m not planning on coming back once I  give birth and they completely understood. Since they do not have maternity leave at my job (local government job) they are allowing me to use all of the sick and vacation time I have accrued over the 5 years I’ve been with them and start using it as of March 6th, which is when they are allowing me to officially start my maternity leave and they will keep me on our payroll here at work until I have used up all my time.  I’m due March 20th and they have been very accommodating thankfully but if you don’t think your employer would be as understanding I probably wouldn’t tell them until it’s a little closer to your due date depending when that is. As of right now I’m training my replacement and she is currently taking over my duties now but they are keeping me here until March 6th which is when I decided I would be ready to be at home preparing for baby.

I wanted to quit this job before I got pregnant and was trying to line something else up, then found out I was pregnant and I figured it was stupid to quit and not get a paycheck until the baby was born. So I’ve been holding on until I can go on maternity leave. I get 12 weeks unpaid leave and can collect short term disability for four weeks. I’m not telling them I’m not coming back yet because I don’t want that to affect being able to collect disability, every little bit helps! I’m going out on leave just as soon as I can though, hopefully at 36 weeks. I don’t need a medical reason from my doctor to stop working since my leave is unpaid. Once I’ve been gone for 8 weeks, I’m going to contact HR and let them know I’m not planning to come back at all. I have told them I don’t think I can come back full time though. I really dislike working for my boss and I CANNOT wait to never have to come back here again!!!

I always knew while TTC that I would be a stay at home mom once we had our baby. As soon as I got pregnant I thought I’d stop working right before the holidays to give myself time to enjoy them, spend time with my military husband and only child at this point, plus get all the things ready for our early March delivery.
I was asked what my plans were by my boss in August not even 8 weeks pregnant, and I lied knowing full well I wasn’t returning after baby. I don’t think it’s truly any of their business to know any earlier than anyone else who would leave a job permanently.
I ended up having to give immediate notice and left right at my second trimester, but it was what was best for me and my family.

We haven’t decided 100% if I will return to work after I have the baby. So I plan on taking my full 6 weeks of leave and decide while I’m out.

My husband is covering for me for maternity leave and they’re talking about keeping him instead of me, so looks like I’ll be staying home lol

I really dont want to go back (I'm due in march) and we can survive on just my husbands income.. BUT we would be much more comfortable with my income added so I'll probably go back to work in the summer time around July or august

I wish I could. But if I decided I wasn’t I would give them a month heads up. I do so much for this place they would need time for me to train someone.
