How to overcome pap smear fear?

Everytime I have tried to get a pap I freak out because it hurts and the doctor can never finish. How do I overcome this fear? I've tried to get it done 3 times now and each time the doctors have given up because I freak out 😥

Maybe a muscle relaxer? Idk im in the same boat. The doctor is able to finish but it's extremely painful and I'm always sore and bleeding for the rest of the day. The swab doesn't hurt but the speculum does

Just breath. I stressed myself out over it and it was over before I could even say "this is uncomfortable". It is so fast if you can relax and just let them do it really quick. It also doesnt hurt if you relax its not comfortable but it doesnt hurt.

Just relax and let them do what they have to.  It’s for your own safety.
The more you freak out and tense up it will hurt more .
It actually doesn’t even hurt when they’re doing it they just wipe a swab .
