My Sons Skin
I’ve posted here about Jaidens skin and how severe his eczema is. I took him to his 12 month well baby check up this week at a new pediatricians office, it’s actually a fairly new practice opened by me and my siblings pediatrician growing up! I didn’t have my son going to him at first because he had opened this new practice but my mom wasn’t informed on where it was or what it was called! We finally found it and I made him an appointment right away!
So some background on Jaidens skin. It started when he we around 4 months old. It started as redness but quickly progressed to the point where his skin would be raw. Now at 12 months it is EXTREMELY dry and itchy. He’ll scratch all day long and at night I have to hold him to make sure he doesn’t scratch his skin raw! You can tell he’s miserable! Also I’m nearly 37 weeks pregnant with his little brother right now. It would be really hard for me to make sure he doesn’t scratch while also waking up to feed his brother during the night.
His previous pediatrician practically shrugged his skin problems off saying “it’s not that bad”, “I’ve seen worse” and “just apply aquaphor”.
His new pediatrician was SO surprised when I told her this because as soon as she saw his skin she immediately called another doctor in to consult with her! She said it isn’t the worst she’s seen either but it is very extensive and needs more attention! She referred us to an allergist that specializes with eczema and prescribed him medications to calm it down until we can be seen by the allergist. I’m so glad we found this practice because I know the other pediatrician wouldn’t have given him and his skin the attention it deserved! I’m really hoping the allergist can get to the bottom of his skin issues so my baby won’t have to suffer anymore!
